Grow Your Talent, Grow Your Business: Reminder to RSVP

Innovacorp is pleased to bring to you the experts who can provide information and resources to help you hire the student most suited to your growing company’s needs. Join us for a two hour session where you’ll learn about a variety of student work placements, wage subsidies and other forms of financial support available to help you hire young, knowledgeable employees.

Employers can provide students – undergraduates, postgraduates and recent graduates – with hands-on work experience and help them adapt to a rapidly changing labour market. Panelists will discuss various types of funding options and application processes, the skills and education levels of eligible students, and the finer details of what you need to know before you consider hiring a student. This session will provide you with valuable information about supplementing your employment needs.

Please note that BioTalent Canada is no longer able to participate in this session. New to the agenda is a representative from Community Business Development Corporations, offering highlights of the Small Business Initiative Program, which seeks to improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by supporting businesses to actively market online and improve their competitiveness with e-business practices and technologies.

A program representative will bring us the student perspective of an internship as well as provide tips and advice on how to obtain the best qualified individual to work in your business.

Community Business Development Corporations (CBDC) – NEW ADDITION

Financial contributions that support the most promising recent doctoral graduates to engage in research and development in the private sector are available through NSERC. In addition, the Industrial Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) stimulate student interest in research in the natural sciences and engineering. These and other programs will be highlighted in this presentation.

Youth Employment Strategy (Career Focus), National Research Council – Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP)

The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) delivers its Youth Employment Program under the Career Focus stream of the Youth Employment Strategy and provides SMEs involved with R&D, financial assistance to hire highly skilled post-secondary graduates.
